About the FreelancingHUB
Established in 2018, the FreelancingHUB partners with not-for-profit, social enterprise, community and government organisations to develop solutions to their business problems through a team-based internship program hosted at our on-campus co-working spaces.
Interns practise their skills and knowledge, experience working as freelancers and deliver meaningful solutions to their clients within a defined timeframe.

How we recruit our project teams
Students go through a competitive recruitment process to secure an internship at the HUB, including submitting a resume and attending a group interview. Selection is based on various factors to ensure each team has a balanced mix of study backgrounds, genders and cultural diversity.
Our Project Managers are hired for their extensive industry experience and expertise, and come from a range of backgrounds, both within and external to Deakin University.
How we work with clients
Clients will meet with their project team face-to-face for an initial scoping meeting within the first two weeks of the project (at your premises or at the HUB). There will be two progress reviews over the trimester to ensure the project is on track, which may be conducted in person, by phone, email or online.
At the end of the trimester, an event is held where project teams make a formal presentation and hand over their deliverables to the client. Clients are expected to be available for the final presentations.
We operate throughout all three study periods offered at Deakin. Trimester 1 (March to June), Trimester 2 (July to October), and intensive mode during Trimester 3 (November to December). Clients can engage with the FreelancingHUB for a one-off project or build a long-term relationship where larger projects roll over each trimester, building on the work completed in the previous trimester.
