About the Ambassador Program

DeakinTALENT’s Student Ambassador Program began in 2017, with 24 Ambassadors across Burwood, Geelong Waterfront, Waurn Ponds and Cloud. The program provides the opportunity for students to be front-facing representatives of the DeakinTALENT brand through Pop-Up stalls on Deakin’s campuses, the online Chat-Box, and various events including our EEExpo. Ambassadors come across all faculties and stages in their studies, with a blend of international and domestic students. The program provides enhanced opportunities for its Ambassadors to engage with career services, teaches them how to increase their professional marketability, leadership skills, and how to engage with employers with confidence.

We recruit Student Ambassadors twice a year in January and May. A link will be available below when applications are open.

“Before this program I extremely underrated my capabilities and value as an employee. Being part of DeakinTALENT has helped me grow immeasurably as a professional and opened up so many opportunities. All the hard work you put in at university won’t translate into career opportunities, unless you know how to market yourself to employers and put yourself out there.”

“[The EEExpo] is the one time all ambassadors are on the ground running, so it’s such a lesson in collaboration and camaraderie. We all band together to facilitate such an important event for our students, and it’s very satisfying to see students get so much out of the event. It’s also a culmination of a few weeks’ campaigning, so seeing it all come together is very exciting.”

“Many of the skills I have developed through working with DeakinTALENT are life skills that I use every day, and are transferable to many other things, such as oral presentations for university. All of the skills I have learnt and developed will be really beneficial when I am looking for employment after university.”
