Career Ambassador Program

About the program

Our Career Ambassadors are the face of DeakinTALENT on campus, operating weekly pop-up stalls, representing us at events and contributing to our social media campaigns.

Becoming a Career Ambassador is an opportunity for you to help other students and has multiple benefits for your own professional development and student experience at Deakin.

Ambassadors also participate in an exclusive professional development program to develop teamwork, communication and leadership skills.

Welcome to my life as a DeakinTALENT Career Ambassador.

My name is Jeymi, and I've been a Career Ambassador for almost half a year now.

So what is a Career Ambassador? We're a team of Deakin students helping other students navigate the career resources and services offered by DeakinTALENT. It's a paid role that runs all year, and every day is different.

Pop-ups on campus are one of the most rewarding parts of this role. We get to chat with students, introduce them to DeakinTALENT tools and services like the jobs board and career coaching, and help them take that first step.

With every shift, I gain valuable experience in communicating clearly, managing time effectively, and building genuine connections — skills that have a real impact on my career.

But it's not just a job. As a Career Ambassador, you get access to a professional development program packed with workshops, coaching, and experiences designed to build your skills and confidence. We meet regularly with the program coordinator to talk through our career plans and get tailored advice. Experiences like these really set you up for the future.

Variety is key here. One day you're participating in a DUSA event, the next you're being coached by industry experts, managing a pop-up stall, or supporting DeakinTALENT’s huge employer showcase. It's the perfect way to get involved on campus and grow your network. My favourite thing about being a Career Ambassador is the community of friends I've found here — people who motivate me, challenge me, and make work feel like fun. Becoming a Career Ambassador opened up a world of new possibilities for me. I feel confident, empowered, and excited about my future.

If you're interested in becoming a Career Ambassador like me, you can apply on the DeakinTALENT Jobs and Internship Board. You can also sign up for job alerts to your email to make sure you don't miss out.

Be sure to utilise tools like CareerSet, Deakin’s resume checker, and attend the Career Success Series workshops to improve your resume and develop other skills that will help you stand out.

This is your chance to get career ready and make a real difference at Deakin.
